The Rotterdam Classic (Division 3) takes place on day 47, and team Emerge has made it its primary goal of the season to defend the title Nijholt won last season in a race which is ideal for him. The support team (Mozarov, Neesens, Haynes, Valentino, and new signing Outram) will be far better than last year, with the new leadout train delivering Nijholt to the finish, so its a very realistic aim hinted team boss Blue Bolt.
The main team will spend the time from now, perfecting their leadout train, in order to give Nijholt as much a boost as possible. Blue Bolt said "They will be entering 6 races before Rotterdam, all of which Nijholt stands a very good chance of podiums providing things go our way. This will improve confidence between the riders and team spirit which can only help heading into the classic."
The races the team have lined up will be:
- Firstly the team will travel to Denmark ready for Vejle - Hejnsvig - Vejle (Day 19). This is a flat road race with a few hills which will likely end in a bunch sprint.
- They will stay in Denmark and compete in Vejle Omegn (Day 25) whih contains a number of hills for the riders to contend with, before a flat sprint at the end.
- Next they will fly immediately across to Canada ready for Halifax Grand Prix (Day 26). This is a completely flat race which will end in a sprint between the top riders of the peloton.
- After a brief rest and a trip home to see there families the riders will head for France for another very flat race, the Auch Sprints (Day 33)
- Next up is another completely flat race in the heat of Qatar, Al Kwahr - Al Kwahr (Day 35). This is a very straight race which requires hardly any technique from the riders.
- And finally they will return to the team headquarters in Oxfordshire, England ready for Nijholt's home race, Birmingham - Shrewsbury (Day 42), having been brought up in Birmingham. No doubt he will want to put on a strong display in front of his friends and family, and will be sprinting for the line at the end of the 138km flat route.
